The unemployment rate in the Euro Area edged down to a fresh low of 6.1% in February 2025, from January's 6.2%, while analysts had expected it to remain steady at 6.2%. The number of unemployed individuals decreased by 70 thousand from the prior month to 10.580 million. Meanwhile, the youth unemployment rate, reflecting those under 25 seeking employment, rose slightly to 14.2% from 14.1% in the prior month. Among the bloc’s largest economies, the unemployment rate was the lowest in Germany (3.5%) and the Netherlands (3.8%), while remaining high in Spain (10.4%), France (7.4%) and Italy (5.9%). A year ago, the jobless rate was higher at 6.5%.
